• Hello,
I just realized that I should create a child theme before making any changes to Twenty Eleven theme. I have changed few .php files to rename several text and change lots of colors and styling in style.css file.

How do i take my existing theme and make that a child theme? Should I copy all files from current folder and put them in child theme folder and switch it over ?

I seriously do not want to loose any changes I made.

    Please Guide.

  • Create or download a child theme, then copy across any ‘page or content’ *.php files you have changed to the child folder, except functions.php and style.css

Then copy any changes styles from parent to child *.css
Add any function changed to functions.php

Backup your old twenty eleven theme to your PC, and download and replace the twenty eleven theme!
