Theme Translation with a .po file

  • Sorry if this subject was already discussed here but I didn’t found a solution…

    I’m translating a theme and I’ve created a pt_PT.po (and .mo) file on the theme subfolder “languages”.
    I’ve notice that some expressions or words that was defined on pt_PT.po file from wordpress/languages is overlapping my theme translation.

    How could I set that the theme translations is the first one where the _e() and __() function scans for a translation?
