    So my website is https://www.booksnnerdythings.com. It doesn’t have any official content or posts yet as I’ve just been setting it up but it’s been working fine until about yesterday when I noticed an issue I was having with my MailChimp widget on the primary sidebar. Basically, it looks like some part of the CSS was overriding the style and I managed to fix it by adding !important to the color I wanted the text on my subscribe button to be. However, I noticed that even though I removed the code from the Style.css sheet, when I went into the inspect element bar the style.css sheet still showed the code and I’m not 100% why that was when I couldn’t find it anywhere else.

    Now, today, even though I’ve managed to fix the widget issue, I’m noticing that when I load up my website, the theme styling is not loading with it. I’m using the Foodie Pro Genesis Child Theme on my site. My website is just loading in more of a list form than with any actual styling and I’m not sure what happened there. At first, last night, it was only doing it if I tried to manually enter my site URL, but it worked fine if I clicked the “visit site” button from the dashboard. Now it’s not even working from the visit site button. Does anyone know how to fix this? I tried restoring to a previous backup from yesterday when my site was working but that did not fix the issue and I’m at a loss here.

  • you have broken the style.css of your theme;

    get an unedited copy of style.css to replace the broken file;
    your theme’s developer might be helpful with that if you have any questions.

    I’ll give that a shot! I should just be able to reinstall a fresh copy of the theme right? I still have both the Genesis and Foodie Pro child theme zip files on my computer and it’s not a huge deal if I have to redo the styling because I didn’t change too much as far as the CSS goes. Any idea how I managed to break it? I didn’t do much to it except delete some CSS I added to it, and the CSS I had added a week or so ago didn’t damage anything because it was working fine until yesterday. Oh well, at least it seems like an easy fix.

    Okay so I redownloaded both the Genesis Theme and the Foodie Pro Child Theme from the Studio Press website so they’re fresh copies, completely unharmed, and just reinstalled them after deleting them from the site. However, my website still looks broken. Why didn’t downloading a fresh copy of the Style.css sheet and reinstalling the theme replace the broken one? What am I missing?

    your site looks ok now –

    try clearing the browser cache

    Oh, guess I tried to check it too soon after fixing it. Thank you so much for your help! Everything is working again now. I just have to re-do my widgets and I’m back to business ??
