• I’ve just installed the ‘almost spring’ theme but my admin panel is telling me I haven’t installed a stylesheet:

“Broken Themes–The following theme is installed but incomplete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template.”

    How do I do this?

  • Using your ftp client put int your /wp-content/themes folder.

Did you check that the style.css file is there?

I did precisely that. The theme folder is in the proper place. But WP is claiming no stylesheet is installed.

    Yup, it’s there all right.

Did you put it in a subfolder of the /themes folder?

    Sure did.

The message is saying it’s broken, that it must have a stylesheet and templates. It isn’t necessarily saying you don’t have the stylesheet. You might not have the templates. What all files are in the folder you made?

Here are the files in the almost spring folder as downloaded fr. the WP site:

    images folder
    404.php
    comments.php
    footer.php
    header.php
    index.php
    page.php
    searchform.php
    sidebar.php
    single.php
    style.css

richards… delete the whole theme and reinstall it. You might even need to delete it from your hard drive and re-download it too. This has happened to me on failed uploads…. Just retry from scratch (uploading the theme).

OK, I finally figured it out.

For some reason, when you download the ‘almost spring’ zip file & then unzip it & upload it to the server (at least this happened when I did it), instead of the files being within the ‘almost spring’ folder…there is an ‘almost spring’ SUBfolder & the files are within the subfolder.

WP just didn’t like the subfolder. Once I moved the files out of the subfolder & placed them in the folder, then everything cleared up.

This seems like a weird way to set up your download files. Is this something I should report to the theme author & WP (I assume every ‘a s’ download would place the files in this configuration)? Or was this something that happened because of the way I’m set up?
