    Hi. I apologize for what is likely a super-newbie question but I’ve been struggling with this for hours and am waiving the white flag.

    I have the plugin set up but when I check a waterfall afterwards, for example in GTMetrix, it shows the CAOS file (which is 1KB) but then also shows a number of requests to the local font in my Avada theme in the wp-content/uploads/fusion-gfonts folder.

    Doesn’t this mean I’m calling the font twice?

    Avada has a toggle to host Google Fonts locally or by CDN. Right now I’m on “local” which I assume is why this happening. If I switch to CDN, I get requests to gstatic.com instead in the waterfall. There is no “off” option.

    Also, I have checked “remove google fonts” in Autoptimize.

    Any help you could provide would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

    I’m pretty sure, if Avada offers a toggle to host the fonts locally, you can remove CAOS for Webfonts. Since they’ve already included all available fonts with the theme.

    Thanks for the quick reply. Yeah I considered that but I was just hoping to use yours because I think yours loads it more economically.

    Well, in that case you’d create a child theme and ‘dequeue’ the fonts added by Avada.

    I’m currently writing a how-to on that actually. But it’s a bit advanced. I’ll keep you posted when I publish it.

    Thanks, I do have a child theme and did try a dequeue script that I’d found online that didn’t work. So it would be great to get access to the script when you’re ready.

    @jmsil,

    I published a how-to on removing Google Fonts from your WordPress theme a few days ago.

    I hope it helps. If you need help, leave a comment and I’ll see what I can do.
