• I had a wordpress blog through uni (RMIT).. and today I tried to add in a folder to hold my newly downloaded theme. /blog/wp-content/themes/falling_dreams/.

I’m not sure if its because of uni, but its telling me that the folder I created isn’s writable — when I went to upload the theme, the message came up – ‘doesn’t appear to be writable by WordPress. Check the permissions on the directory and for typos’

It doesn’t support FTP, and I can’t find anywhere to change the permissions for the directory. Am i stupid and doing something wrong or could it possibly be uni restrictions?? Please help! Thanx

  • I’m having the same problem, and I just upgraded to wordpress 1.5. I wish someone would reply to this!!

I think you’ve got to CHMOD the files in your theme in order to edit them in WordPress.

What do you mean “it” doesn’t support FTP? What doesn’t? Your webhost? If so, it’s time to get a new host.
