Theme Page Width too small

Without adding to CSS code which is an empty box, since I’m not a Programmer, how can I adjust the the theme to sue full screen since the page size is only 3/4 of a high res monitor? Do I have to go into the back-end an edit the custom style sheet.php? since adding css code with customizer is meaningless to me. Thanks for any help here.
