See this post as to what happened to the theme: https://aquoid.com/news/2016/06/suffusion-not-available-any-more/

    contentiskey, yeah, that’s it.

Is there any way we can find out about this, and perhaps request it be restored? I have many commercial sites based upon suffusion, and I am currently in the process of developing another large business site around this theme. It is simply the most versatile theme out there, and I have several tools I have built to take advantage of it. I perhaps six years+ of using
Suffusion, much in a business/commercial setting I have never had one single problem.

I do not understand, but this may finally be the straw that makes me give up wordpress for another CMS, or to write my own.. (Tired of the politics ??

There seems to be some debate whether Suffusion should be considered a theme, a framework or a plug-in. In either case, it sucks that it’s no longer available. If there’s a way to make wordpress change their mind, I would be happy to support it!
    Taking it away s*cks moose-richard!

    Best regards, y’all

Wow! I am up for petitioning WordPress to reinstate. But do you think Sayontan will be up for reinstatement? I too think I need to look for a new CMS. My customers depend on this theme. Bad bad WordPress!

Sadly, a certain jcastaneda – presumably of WordPress – has deemed that this theme, possibly one of the best, easiest to use and certainly most popular, does not conform, despite the version being 5 months old with many many thousands, if not millions, of installs.

Apparently there are security concerns about certain aspects of the coding – although Suffusion is one of the themes that, as far as I know, has never appeared in the WordFence warnings despite its massively widespread use.
Also, there is mention of a lack of translation readiness – yet again, witness the vast number of installations, this does not appear to be a problem in the real world.
And most absurd, the lack of integration into the WordPress customizer. This really annoys me personally since the customizer is an atrocious piece of kit that only serves to make customisation of the site unpredictable. Far from Suffusion being a problem with the Customizer, it is the Customizer that manages to disrupt Suffusion.

I hope that Santoyan doesn’t stop completely – or rather, I hope that enough people make their voices heard that jcastaneda and his club manage to change their stance.

    Sad, WordPress… just sad.

I am very sad too that jcastaneda choosed to remove the theme from the repository, thereby letting many happy users of the incredibly versitile, yet easy to use Suffusion-WordPress theme down.

This jcastaneda may feel justified because some of the recent (silly!) rules of WordPress have not been met, but really, I’d like to tell him: how dare you create vast problems for happy users of Suffusion who never had a security scare because of this theme. Jcastaneda, why won’t you just put Suffion back in the repository and put your energy in fixing real, core WordPress-problems.

I found out about this (as I assume the vast majority of users will) by trying to DL the theme onto a new WP install, yikes!

Although I a uber techy about many things (Tier III network architect for instance) but be advised I know just enough about coding, HTML, and CSS in general to be dangerous. I have however worked on large SW development teams so know some of the politics, fights, SQA, and bug selection that can go on.

Points that jump out at me:

    1. IM(O)NSHO Suffusion has done a huge service to the furthering of WP, it is better than many (most?) paid frameworks, I simply CANNOT BELIEVE the work this man has put into this. It allows wannabes like me to soar and for free! To just pull it with a casual comment in a review blog post smacks of extreme naivete on the part of the reviewer, or a ulterior motive (note better than most paid apps), or ? At the very least out of respect for the incredible following this framework has some sort of person to person communication should have taken place. WP, you have done a dis-service to yourself here. There are two sides to every story. But at the very least the author should have been treated with a much greater level of respect. He is my hero, and I am not alone. I just do not get it, this framework has such a huge following. And, the man is probably exhausted! But really folks you should find a way to nurture him, he has done you much good.

    2. There is clearly a large enough install base and loyal fan club to allow monetization of Suffusion. If the author does happen to read this please consider and comment on your own WP.

    3. Last observation (I promise) is that is this not the ultimate fate of all single person labors of love (meaning unpaid and even quite a few that are)? Heavy ~sigh… it was glorious while it lasted, but exhaustion won in the end.

In any case my hat is off to you, I am better having seen your work. There are literally hundreds of thousands of people in the world you have never met, will never here from, but think you are a pretty amazing guy.

I was looking for a excuse to focus on Joomla anyway…

    Thank you
