Seriously. I was editing a new post, doing nothing extraordinary. I scheduled the post for publication at midnight tonight. When I went to preview the page, the search header at the top of the page had suddenly and inexplicable dropped down a good 3/4 inch or so!

    See https://firstworldwartoday.net

I’ve had this blog running with no special problems for three months, more or less, and this is the first time something like this has happened, out of the blue. I haven’t messed with the code or anything.

I’ve since been using firebug to see if I can identify the problem, but I haven’t physically touched any code.

Anyone else ever experience this? Need to fix it, and haven’t a clue what the problem is.

  • Has your menu always went onto two lines?

Can you confirm exactly where the search box should be? Is it possible that in fact the main menu has moved up over the search bar, rather than the search moving down?

The search box is supposed to be at the top right – standard position for The Morning After theme.

I don’t know. I have been using Firebug to try to analyze the situation, and now, for some reason, the site is worse than it was before. The center sidebar has moved below the left-hand column, and the right most sidebar has moved below the center column!

And the search header is still screwed up.

I don’t know how this has happened. I never even messed with the code!

What I do know is that three months of intensive, daily, hard work is ruined, and I have no clue how to repair it. I’ve built a steady stream of traffic to my blog, and have built cred within my community, connected with a number of people… have made great strides.

And now my site is shot to hell.

    I’m screwed.

Well… I got lucky and thought to download original Morning After theme files; then replaced the CSS and Custom CSS files with clean originals.

Most of the layout is back in working order. Still, the search header at the top is still wonky: the original problem.

Any ideas? Anyone? Undying gratitude to he s/he who comes forward with the solution.

Yeah, so I solved it. Could’ve used some help here, but I think I’ve learned not to expect that on this forum. Thanks for the “help.” (Yeah right).

The support forums are used on a voluntary basis, and are staffed by volunteers, so you’re not going to get a guaranteed response to anything in a set time. Some people need to wait days for a resolution but generally you do get a good deal of free advice and help in a fairly prompt manner.
