[Theme : Minimaliste] Theme colour and separate posts in different pages

Hi there,

I’m trying to build my website on the Minimaliste theme.

I’ve made a child of the theme and I’m trying to change the background colour of the theme. I’ve managed to add the Styles Plugin to the theme, linking it in the two .php files.

On my customise page, I get a long list of different styles list, menu styles, entry styles, comment styles, etc. I tried to change the background colour of the theme but couldn’t find it. And if I do change it, it doesn’t reflect on the website.

also I’ve managed to add posts to my front page, and I’ve added categories for each of my post. I’m using two different dropdown menus and I would like certain posts to be in certain menus. for example, I have art works that goes under the art category and there’s also sub-categories in that menu. Now I want a post under music to fall under the music menu, which also have sub-categories under it. at the moment all my post are displayed on the art category, even music category post ended up there.

I’ve made 2 different pages with no content and as static page, linking main as front page and art as posts page. (under Settings>Reading)

so here are my questions.

1) How do I change the background colour of this theme, without really coding, if possible. If I have to, could you advise me how I can change or add code to the theme?

2) How do I change posts under music category to only appear in the music page and not in the front page of art?

I’m a newbie and new to coding, so please be patient. If there are any plugins that I should use, please do advise as well.
