Theme like The Boston Globe?

The Boston Globe’s new premium website (www.bostonglobe.com) is all the rage. If you haven’t seen it, check it out. The main advantage to it over traditional sites is that it rescales to the window/device it’s in. So it looks great all the way from a vertical iPhone (with one column) to a full-sized desktop monitor (usually three columns) and everything in between. No need for a separate design for different devices.
Has anyone tried to replicate this? Not exactly, of course, but taking the ideas of rescaling, adding and dropping columns, and generally having a site that looks great no matter what device you’re on?
