• I finally updated from 2.1.3 to 2.2. Afterwards, I’m finding that the theme keeps reverting back to the Default theme and undetermined intervals.

I had a bunch of plugins, but whittled it down to the following:

Akismet 2.0.2, Bad Behavior 2.0.10, Disable WordPress Widgets 1.0, FeedBurner FeedSmith 2.2, Full Text Feed 1.03, Remove Dashboard Feeds 1.0, Subscribe To Comments 2.1, Taragana’s Del.icio.us mp3 Player Plugin 1.0, WordPress.com Stats 1.0, WordPress Database Backup 2.1.2

I tried K2 v0.9.6 and Barthelme 3.0.1. It still happens.

I saw bug ticket #3907 “WP reverts to default theme on file access collision”.

(My blog post about all this here.)

I clearly see other WP 2.2-based blogs that are just fine. What else can I do?

There is no certain fix for this, because nobody really knows why it happens.

You could rename your theme’s directory to default and select that one. That way, when it reverts, it reverts to the same theme you’re using.

@otto42: Thanks for the reply. I suppose that’s the band-aid fix. It’s been working for the past 10 minutes now. Yay for now! ??

My understanding is that anytime WP encounters a show-stopping error with a theme (like a missing file?) it’ll revert to Default.

perhaps something like that is happening?

@handysolo: AFAIK, I uploaded everything from the ZIP files of K2, Barthleme and WP 2.2. It wouldn’t make sense that the Classic theme would revert to Kubrick, right?

WordPressStats 1.0 is the only one you mention that makes sense to my situation. I just installed it a few days ago… at the same time I installed a custom theme. I would lean that direction on this one.

I have feedburner, but have had it for some time before this problem arose.

OTTO42- might sound like a dumb question, but where/how does one change the default name of your theme to “default”? Do you do it right in the directory? I would check to see if there WAS a theme called “default” but I think I deleted it…

I’m having the same problem right now. I tried changing my theme to default and the whole site disappeared – nothing but a white screen. Any other ideas?
