[Theme: Influence] Changing Menu Location? Ugly mobile site?

I started doing this site before I started my business a month or so ago, it started out with the parabola theme then I decided that looked to cheesy, so I figured I’d upgrade him a bit. I don’t charge him a whole lot (he paid 1k for the whole site and configuration) and I’ve probably but over 100 hours in easily (some of which are contributed to me just starting to learn wordpress about 3-4 months ago). Anyways my two biggest complaints with this Influence theme are these.

1. How come the mobile version of the site is so damn clumsy and unfinished looking? I unchecked the responsive box in the theme settings and just set it to bound within 1000px because it looked completely horrible..Anything I can do to play with the mobile some to make it look presentable?

2. The theme has the pullout menu, which I initially thought was pretty cool and looked good. Of course he doesn’t think so, so instead of fighting with him about it, I am just going to shut up and make it a traditional horizontal menu bar. What is the easiest way to do this?
