Theme error

Hello I did a update on the newest Theme the other day on 2 of my site and they crashed. Message came back as a critical error. This was over my head. Bluehost was able to move my sites back to a older update I think. But Bluehost told me to contact wordpress to let them know as I know updates will be automatic soon and I would hate to have my sites crash again. So I am looking for a helper or person in charge of the last updates to the theme I am using.
