This might be a stupid question but in the theme editor, I don’t see a “save” button so how do I save the changes I make to various files?

  • In the bottom right there should be a ‘update’ button ?

Yes, I’m able to edit them in my ftp client.

I just checked, the permission is set at 644. Should it be something else?

The files need to be writable by the web server. In most cases, it involves making the files’ permision 646. Keep in mind that any files writable by the web server are usually writable by hackers.

So the permission should be set at 646? I’ll try that. Thanks!
I’m not really worried about being hacked. What are they gonna do with me template files? Plus, who’s gonna hack my little innocent site? =)
    Thanks!

Hi there, i’ve just started using WP and i too don’t see the ‘update’ button on the theme editor page. Using firefox 1.0 WindowXP. Folders has been CHMOD to 777 which i think should be writeable…rite? Thanks…

Make sure the specific file is writable, not the folder.

ie /wp-content/themes/your theme here/single.php should be chmod 777.

O.k..done that, still don’t see the update button ??

    Anyone got any ideas?

Now i got it to work…it’s the styles.php file that needs to be CHMOD 777 ??
