Theme Doesn't recognize categories?!?!?

  • Hello,
    First of all I am a novice. I only do this when I need a new site.

    I am building out a new theme (Pure Photo) on a clone of my current site. I discovered while doing this that the theme does not recognize categories! (I didn’t know that was possible) I then confirmed it with the developer. It is just listing all pages by date.

    On my current site I use categories to separate posts into different types: Blog, Clients, weddings, etc

    I have been looking for a plugin that might fill in for what the theme is lacking. Any ideas?
