Theme does not render site name and site description

hi, i just bought a premium theme and it does not render site title and tagline. It totally ignores my general settings entries I have set. Their support rep said this will be fixed in two months but for now I need to upload a graphic logo to do this. I was a little shocked. Anyone have any feedback? Shouldn’t all themes do this. It is kind of basic. Thanks very much for reading this.
