The choice of what themes to feature is only available to the Theme Directory maintainers.

What does that theme directory maintainers?

@davidzs: What esmi is refering to are the people maintaining the WordPress theme repository…. It is their decision whether a theme should be featured or not.

No idea. ?? You could try emailing [email protected] and ask them. For what it’s worth, the newest 12 or so themes are always listed under Newest Themes – which tends to get your theme off to a flying start.
