[Theme: desire] How do I put a photo on the home page below the header?

How do you put a photo directly under the header on the front page of the Desire theme. In the promotional photo of the Desire theme there is a sporty car on the front. That’s where I want to put a photo. Right now there is a faded line drawing of a camera in a large white space. Do I do this through the slide show somehow?
