Go to Appearance >> Customize >> Navigation
Under that tab you will find the colour settings for the menu.

which ones in the navigation colour settings were you wanting to change?

I just tried them in my local test site and I was able to change colours for the menu link colour, the hover colour, and also the submenu background.

As you use the colour selector for the colours, do you see them change in the right preview window? Also, if you change the colours and click Save, do they change?

One last question…did you create a custom menu for your site with this theme? Here is a quick tutorial for that because if you haven’t this could be the problem:

Is not only about the navigation setings. In Appearance >> Customize >> Navigation or Appearance >> Customize >> Colors it doesn’t work to change any color.
For example I can’t change the colors for Footer Background, Footer Text, Footer Link Hover, Main Menu Background, Main Menu Links, Main Menu Hover & Active and Submenu Background.
Unfortunatly the color selector doesn’t work for any part of the website. I followed your tutorial on changing theme colours

    Solved the problem, Thankyou!!!

Good to hear…what was it that was the problem?

I don?t know for shure, but after i reinstalled the wordpress and the theme it just worked.
By The way, where can i translate the copyright information from the footer and how can i setup a social menu?

Sometimes reinstalling WP helps if things that normally should be working don’t. But good to hear it’s working now.

For the copyright, there is a setting in the customizer for the copyright name…Go to Appearance >> Customize >> Basic Settings >> Your Copyright Name.

For any other theme translations, you will need to generate a language file for translation strings using the theme’s emphasize.pot file with a program like PoEdit or something else that can do it. For reference, you can check out this as a starting point: Translate WP

To setup your social menu, my tutorial will help: Create your Social Networking Menu

Romanian translation has just been finished. Where can I send the files for your next them update?

I appreciate you offering your translation to be included in a theme update and want to say thank you. However, at this time I am not adding any translations to the theme download. I may consider it in the future though if I get enough requests for it.

There is also the problem when updating a theme, that the translation file(s) may also need to be kept up to date…which would require everyone who provides translations to also help keep them updated when needed.

    Hello

I am using Emphasize 1.0.4 and there is no Navigation section in the Customizer.

I too need to change the colour of the menu links but cannot find a way of doing it. I have tried Custom CSS to no avail. I note in the page source of the rendered page, there is custom css which sets the menu colours etc but I cannot see how to overide it.

Any thoughts? Should this have been a new post – sorry if it should have been.

@antler44….it looks like with the WP 4.3, they changed what used to be a default section in the customizer “Nav” to incorporate a new setup for Menus. Basically it means what I had in the section “Nav” is no longer there due to the section change in the customizer.

I will have to update this theme immediately and upload it today. Hopefully the review team can approve it quickly. I will let the team know that this is a critical update.

    Hi SP

I note that you have added version 1.16. I guess it has not yet been approved but is it possible to get it now?

    Thanks for fixing this issue.

@antler44….You can get that here: Emphasize 1.1.6 Unzip it, then manually upload it to replace your existing one. Please note this will overwrite the files of your current one.
