are compatible with the (latest release 2.9.1) the
filter does not have a compatibility option.

  • Most themes in the Theme Directory should be compatible with 2.9.1.

    The Keyword being “Most”

With my luck I’ll pick the one that is not compatible
adding a compatibility filter option is something to
    think about for the future.

I was also reading about encoded theme files, does WordPress
check to make sure themes submitted to the site, do not
contain them? this would also be great to know.

But for now I’ll stick with the default, just testing anyway
    WordPress is very impressive.

    Thanks

At worst, all you’ll lose is a little wasted time installing it. Always preview a theme before activating it. If the preview looks “off” or you get what looks like a blank/empty page, don’t activate that theme. It has problems.

No theme in the Theme Directory should contain encoded files or any spam links. All themes (and any future updates) are checked manually before being added to the directory and should conform to the theme checklist.

Thanks that’s good to know, I tested a bunch of blogs this week I decided on WordPress I pretty much got the hang of things in no time, as you might guess I am very paranoid about security, if I cannot create a theme I will get it from this site only, I like the default theme in general if not for that big page oversize header image, I tried to slim it down but its tied into other things as well and there’s no psd like file in there to modify the image itself.

    Thanks for helping out
