Theme choice

Hi guys,

i’m new to WordPress and am trying to find out if it will suit the project i’m trying to create…

Basically i want to set up a site where people can create their own profile and join the site, in the hope of being put in touch with someone that can help them with the project they’re working on. So it’s kinda like a dating site (a community) in a way, in that two people can create profiles, find each other, and communicate with each other either publicly or privately (through private messages), along with possibly adding photos of said project (or at least being able to link to them), etc.

Is this something i can achieve using WordPress? I don’t have any web programming experience (other than tweaking tumblr sites!) so i’m looking for a theme/template that i can modify for my needs. I’m a competent designer so look/design isn’t an issue.

Any ideas/thoughts muchly appreciated! ??
