theme broken

Hello .

I saw your site, Your current site using version 2.1.9 which is way older version of the theme.

Best Solution is to create a clone of the existing site (data) with latest enigma-parallax themes and weblizar-companion plugin , using a production server.

Otherwise to upgrade theme from 2.1.9 to 5.0 is hard task to do as there will be site broken many times.

Let me know your thoughts on this.

Hi thanks for responding so quickly. I just used staging server at siteground. Activated another theme, Deleted the old paralax theme and downloaded installed new parallax, its working front end, but without my home page customisations. Lucky this is only staging. can delete and start again. unfortunately cant show you the staging version without giving the passwords. but I know there is special procedure to import the old home page content? Have I lost it now because I deleted it? Shall I start again and not delete?

So I went to the main site and exported content but that did not export the customisation section for home page. So there has to be another way.

But really this is not working properly at all anyway:

My client says we should purchase the Enigma Premium, in order to get theme author support for smoothly reinstating site? and fixing installation? what you think?
But with the new premium enigma (of which I see no Premium Enigma Parallax) will I have to rebuild the home page from scratch, it comes down to the missing file of home page content. Luckily all the home page content still exists on my main site. its just the staging site that doesnt have my customised home page content.

And Send me Screenshot of your staging server , I will help you.

Make sure you have lates theme and latest weblizar-companion plugin activated only no other plugins.

This is weird. your themes Enigma and Enigma Parallax are both listed at wp.org. I thought I was in the right place to ask for help. I only suggested we buy the premium version of enigma to improve our chances of site not breaking the next time?
Help would be gratefully received. Forget about the premium theme for now.
What page of the staging server screenshot would be most helpful to you. It is quite clear the theme is causing the breakdown of whole site. Its what made all my plugins throw errors. I can tell you that there is no longer any options to deactivate plugins, the screen optons are blanked out. Dont exist. Apologies for this big error occurred.

Please try below steps first on your staging site only.

Step1 ) Please take a backup of your main site DB file.
Step2 ) Create a ( New ) staging site with importing the above backup , Now Activate enigma-parallax version 2.1.9 on it and match this new staging site is looking a clone of your main site.
Step3) Now get enigma-parallax version 4.0.5 from here and weblizar-companion plugin from here , Activate theme and plugin both.
Step4) Go Apperence > import/export ,click on import data after that data restored . Step5) Now you can activate the latest version of theme enigma-parallax-5.0 and old data restored automatically.

Note : We are helping you with the maximum possible way to fix this issue for you. Use staging site. Always have backup (DB and wp-content folder).

Hi thanks again for responding. Very grateful. Just one thing before I do those instructions you suggest. So this is my understanding.
on the staging I create a brand new empty install of wordpress, and import the DB backup to it?
Where do I get a copy of the enigma parallax version 2.1.9? I am assuming I have to use a clean copy of 2 theme as mine is corrupted.
Or are you saying clone the whole main site again in a staging afresh?
I have downloaded the 4 theme and the companion, but want to start in the correct manner….thanks

and dont forget that my main site is showing my home page content just fine on the front end display, but in the https://www.peterosplace.com/plugin-page/ I have lost all my plugins. So if I clone this site, am I not going to be importing the same errors which need to fix this before upgrading to version 4 of the theme?

I think you meant this:

I do another 2 backups again: 1 of the data files and 1 of the DB. And follow your instructions

I will stage a new clone again. Is that right? then import the DB first, then install your links to theme version 4 and then companion, and then import data files from the backup.
And then the final step as you said, can be done…I should be able to update to the final latest theme version then.
Just as long as the corrupted version 2 can be overwritten by the version 4, then that is the goal. Will that happen?

Siteground helpdesk said, with the Staging tool, it would not be a good option to import a copy of the live website’s database to the staging copy, because the two websites are connected by a handful of Apache modules in order to mask the staging’s URL so that the application and the server will think it is domain.com, instead of the actual staging1.domain.com. So in this case, my advice would be to directly activate the theme on the staging copy if possible, since it would be an exact copy. Otherwise, I would suggest to follow those detailed steps on how to manually copy the website’s files and Database url:https://www.siteground.com/tutorials/wordpress/move-copy/ . Ok then the only way is their tutorial to copy, which should take me about 10 hours to do as I do not understand how to do it. I am now having a nervous breakdown

I tried to do the staging method again and uploaded 4 and companion but it still was broken, and I even tried to update to latest parallax too, but still not able to activate or deactivate plugins, nor would it bring back my home page content. ok I gave up trying to do clone or restoration so I started a brand new fresh wp install, in a new subfolder, with the latest parallax. https://a.peterosplace.com/ and am at the stage of creating a new slider in the customising section. but no matter what I do, I cannot activate the carousel slider for home page settings, nor change the home page to full width. I have ticked the box for Enable Slider on Homepage and I have tested out all of the settings for page type attributes within the home page. i.e. Full width, Home template, but none of them allow for home page content.
I am adding this all fresh in your latest parallax but no luck. Please give us a clue what is wrong. thanks

Ok i deleted everything and started again for the 3rd time. It seems that the theme will only allow the very first home page of word to embed as the theme customisation options for home page, and when ran a slider on that page, the slider showed up. But then I imported my pages from my main site to the new a.peterosplace.com, and selected my required home page and deleted the first demo, it lost the home page content again.
I also noticed that the home page of the site has no permalink edit options.
So when I imported my pages, it was of course named as home-2 but I could not change it to home except in the page title. Anyway, so doing that lost my content. Even by restoring the trashed home page, and selecting that again for the wordpress to land on, it made no difference, because the theme can no longer find the home page it wants. please give me a solution for the content to display. thanks.

Hi after a week, I am still waiting for weblizar response, are you still able to help me? You did say you would. So I had to try a fresh install way.

if you could view my https://a.peterosplace.com/ sub domain test site you will see a brand new wordpress install, and the latest parallax, but no home content. It is impossible to import my main pages to it, and display home customisations.

utilising the themes original demo home page, I manually inserted fresh home page content, it loaded and displayed live just fine. So your theme does work. But only works with the first wordpress demo home page.
As soon as I imported my xml file of pages etc content from main site, it brings over a new home page, home 2. I deleted the demo home page, renamed my imported home page to home (from home-2) but the theme or wordpress still couldn’t load the home customisations on the new home page anymore.
So this may be a simple thing you can advise on, how to fix the link.

I dont know how to go into the php backend somewhere, to force the wp or theme to recognise my new imported home page, and allow for my home page customisations to appear live.

If you don’t reply then I will be forced to go find another theme. Perhaps someone out there knows a nice free theme that has custom home sections similar to parallax theme? Many thanks. G
