I’m redesigning https://aaa-ent.com and I’m using the Blackbeard theme. I set it up in a staging directory https://aaa-ent.com/private and got it to where the client was very happy. I went to move the site to the root domain (as I’ve done with several sites) following the codex to the letter. However, when I moved it the site broke and I got the following error – Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘function’ (T_FUNCTION) in /home/aaa.ente/public_html/private/wp-content/themes/dang/inc/jetpack.php on line 1. I had to rename the Blackbeard and Zerif-life files in order to access the admin and move everything back to staging directory, but all of my customizations are going to be lost, and if I redo them in the same theme I have no guarantee that it won’t just break again. Please help.

    Hi Ronny,

I am so sorry for the late answer. The error you got doesn’t seam to be related to the ZBlackbeard theme , or Zerif Lite, but with the theme Dang as you may see from the error message. There seams to be an error with Jetpack.
I think this may be the reason everything broke.
I suggest you maybe delete that theme or contact their support forum maybe?

Please let me know if this is of any help or I can do anything else for you
    Thank you!

    Best regards,
    Alexandra
