[Theme – Bookrev Lite] Layout Problems

I’m in the process of setting up a new review website and I’ve come across two errors I can’t seem to get around.

1) I’m trying to remove the comment count from the featured images but am unable to.

2) Under the Highlight of the Day section of the main page it’s showing content that I haven’t created (The blank post which links to the main page). Also It’s set up to display only one category but is showing my review posts instead.

I’ve tried removing the section and putting it back in but nothing changes. I’m not well-versed in coding so any help would be greatly appreciated.
