Theme advise

Hi, I’m putting together a site for a colleague (an academic) who is retiring. We are gathering comments, photos, video etc from people who have known him over the years.
I’m looking for a theme that would suit this type of site. Easy to upload these types of things and gives a good why to present them for viewing.

So I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good theme for this. Nothing too flashy but not dull either.
