Theme advice for a downtown website

  • I’m creating a website for a downtown (approx. 700 retailers/professionals). I’m using the Avada Theme for the demo, but it’s not Buddypress compatible, and they now stated they want community interaction. I’ve already tried the Beta 1.7 of Buddypress to no avail. Any suggestions on a theme/template that would fit the bill? Core features needed:
    1. Responsive
    2. Buddypress capable
    3. Clean, highly configurable in terms of appearance
    4. Ubermenu friendly
    5. Lots of shortcode options would be helpful for sure
