After updating 2011 theme and WordPress to version 4.2, theme is broken and will not render site. Error message: (xxxxxxxx replaces account name)

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘endif’ (T_ENDIF) in /home/xxxxxxxx/public_html/wp-content/themes/twentyeleven/header.php on line 79

Tried reinstall of theme several times via WordPress and FTP. With version 4.2, reinstalled previous 2011 theme and still get the error. Suspect the culprit is WordPress 4.2.

  • Have you deactivated all of your plugins?

    Where is you site hosted?

Yes, I deactivated all plugins no help. I host with Hostgator and 15 other WordPress sites I host there are working fine, but they do not use the 2011 theme.

    Update:

Re-downloaded the 2011 theme again, installed manually again, it is now working.

Is it possible the distribution files for twentyeleven were corrupt on the WordPress server?

    Marking this thread as resolved.

I think HostGator had a problem – I’ve seen some other people will similar behavior on default themes – also hosted there.
