  • Te answer is exactly in your topic title: the_excerpt.
    Did you have a chance to read the documentation about it?
    Template_Tags/the_excerpt

    i did

    but: This tag has no parameters.

    this is what i need… ??

    moshu meant the description, which says in part:

    If you do not provide an explicit excerpt to a post (in the post editor’s optional excerpt field), the first 55 words of the post’s content are used. Also in the latter case, HTML tags and graphics are stripped from the excerpt’s content.

    If you want to display images/HTML tags from your post on category queries, switch to the_content()] template tag in your category template:

    Is there a way to include the_excerpt in the Title tag? Sorry if this is the wrong place to post that.

    I posted a note on this as well..sorry but I kind of want my cake and want to eat it too. I WANT the_excerpt function to do its job….AND I want SOME HTML to stay too. I understand the problem of a hanging HTML tag if you crop in the middle. BUT the HTML I personally want (a RATING SCRIPT TAG) is in the first couple lines of my post. I would be HAPPY to block it in TAGS
    <KEEPTHISHTML>
    blah blah blah
    </KEEPTHISHTML>
    If that worked, it should ignore a word count while ignoring the HTML>

    Thoughts?
