I installed a WordPress site and I see that the “www” is absent; just the “https//” My host says the site is published, but without the “www” no one can find it but me.

I don’t want to duplicate the site or redirect it. I want the site to have the “www” in the URL. Do I need to go into htaccess and add a code. I was told this is what I should do.

  • If you want it (and not everyone wants it!), you have to add it to your website address in SETTINGS => GENERAL (both fields) in your WordPress dashboard.

A BIG BIG BIG WARNING: Before you do this, make sure your domain’s DNS is properly configured to use www — else your site will break completely.

If you can share your domain, I could take a look to see if your domain’s DNS is properly configured to handle www or not.

Thanks George. The people at my hosting site got back to me. If their solution does not work, I will try your solution.
