• Just curious..
Have you considered not all wordpress users are people like Matt?
Cuz , even my grandma blogged using wordpress.

We use WordPress because the editor is simple to write.

You can force it to use a new editor as the default standard wordpress editor if WP users are all like Matt or Neil patel.

I think it’s time for people like my grandma, my mom and people who just know writing and sharing just stop blogging because of a sophisticated editor.

    Sad.

I’m sorry you’ve had a bad time of it with Gutenberg. If you wish to maintain and keep the old editor in the new major release of WordPress, please consider installing and activating this plugin.

I think you are aware of that but I just wanted to be complete.

Of course. At Wordcamp US 2017 there was a great demonstration about that where one of the development leads did a live demo. It was very informative and helped allay the fears of many.

What does she think of Gutenberg? ??

Thanks for the feedback but that’s just not the case. The existing TinyMCE editor has remained virtually untouched for years. Yes, it works but there’s not a lot of innovation there any more. The Internet has evolved and that editor hasn’t. This editor is an attempt to revitalize that experience. It is different and that’s not accidental, that’s really the whole point.

an innovation should make things easy – not make it messy.

she has chosen to install the classic editor plugin

What a load of nonsense. True, the old editor hadn’t changed…but it worked, it was simple to use. This update has changed it for the sake of change. It’s a total joke of an editor.

Look at how many clicks it takes to do a task compared to the old editor. The old editor was a joy to use as everything could be seen easily without switching modes over and over.

Whoever created this update clearly has not considered the most important aspect of an editor – ease of use/user enjoyment. Sure, this new editor ‘does the job’, but it sucks, it’s a PITA to use and involves too much switching between modes.

Using the text editor, where are the buttons to ‘add media’? Now I need to code instead of clicking a button and pointing the media file…you think that is a better user ex[perince? It’s a joke.

And expecting a user to add a plugin to fix what wasn’t broken..are you serious? How about giving an option to revert to the classic editor without needing a plugin.
