• I don’t usually post review for any plugin. But for this one, I had to do it. It’s such a pain in the ass. It has wasted so much of my time. After using it for 2 months, I’m giving up on it. The worst part is that it is the default editor in WordPress. At least give an option to choose, instead of forcing this crap. I wish there was a way to give it a negative rating. Sadly I have to give it 1 star.

Hey @sorabhtomar – thanks for taking the time to write a review.

We totally understand there’s a definite learning/familiarity curve to Gutenberg. And, to be honest, we are always working to make it better.

We do welcome feedback – so if there are specific things you can highlight that you find are more difficult than the older Classic Editor – that would be really helpful.

Well, it’s very easy… Ask someone who has some knowledge with other CMS systems, yet who is less involved in WordPress and see how they interact with the Gutenberg user interface. I think the concept behing Gutenberg is okay, but the way it’s being implemented is bad… Don’t spread things over several menus, because that’s bad UI. “Where is this setting again? Is it in this menu, in that menu? Maybe I need to click under this tab…”. It’s so unclear… Maybe not the best comparison, yet look at MS Word, MS Excel… Things that go around for ages. There’s a ton of functionality built in, yet most of the things are more or less grouped in the same place.

    1. Start with grouping things in 1 horizontal menu at the top. Everything should be accessible from there.
    2. Make sure people don’t have to click several times to get an action done or to find a particular setting.
    3. Avoid hiding things under collapsible toggles. How? Make main tasks accessible from the top menu, more detailed things that go together can be shown in a sidebar section for instance…
    4. The hover over different blocks seems buggy or at least not clear to me… You simply hover over a block, and the entire block should be surrounded with a border or light background color or so.
    5. Finally, since Gutenberg is already out that long and people keep complaining about it, maybe it’s time to get some fresh brains in the core WordPress team… It seems there are some very stubborn people involved, who close their eyes for all the feedback from the WordPress community ??
