The Switch from WP.com to WP.org

  • Aloha.. I signed up for WordPress.com and thought I was getting www.remarpro.com. I registered my domain at Godaddy and I use Rage Web Hosting. I followed a Lynda.com tutorial to point my domain name to Rage.I installed WordPress at Rage as well and changed the nameservers.. I waited 72 hours and got the notification that it did switch..
    So I am confused here.. I want to use nothing but the WP.org for the sake more control and for uploading custom 3rd party themes such as those found at ElegantThemes.com I have even uploaded the themes I like into Rage Web Host via FTP into my Cpanel at Rage. The themes are installed into the correct folder..
    So I am confused on what to do. I have watched video tutorials on how to switch from WP.com to WP.org but that seems it is for folks that have not done all the steps in using a host..
    Please help…dont know if I am just over thinking this

  • You can have a wordpress.com account which is seperate from an install of www.remarpro.com on a hosting account. If you’ve set up your domain properly, installed wordpress on your hosting account then you should be able to login at yourdomain.com/wp-admin…. Does that help?

    aloha amanda..im not sure if that helps me…yes if i go to samuelmorganshaw.com/wp-admin it takes me to my “regular” wordpress.com dash board (is this the same as the .org)
    Its the same one I made my WP site samuelmorganshaw.com

    im not sure how to apply any theme..(not the premium or free ones)
    i downloaded “attache” and want to install it but there is no “install” option like there use to be.
    i have uploaded it into my web host, into my themes folder, and still there is no option to install it back at my dashboard.

    what am i missing here?
