On our website we have a form linked to a Mailchimp list with your Easy Forms plugin that was working correctly until a few days ago.

We have verified that the plugin configuration is correct, the connection to the API appears as connected. We can view the information of the list to which it is connected. When we edit the forms, the available fields from that list appear, apparently everything is OK.

All plugins are updated to their latest version and also the WordPress core (version 6.0).

The form (in the footer of our website) has stopped working after we have made some changes in our Mailchimp account, we modified some data of the Audience option, “Audience name and defaults / Campaign defaults” and “Settings / Required email footer content”. The data that has been modified is:

    – Company / Organization
    – Contact name
    – Email address

After making these changes we did a subscription test again (filling in all the necessary fields), the form apparently submits without problems as it shows a message like it has been sent successfully:

However, the first subscription confirmation message never reaches the recipient.

We have spent days trying to find a solution and investigating but so far we have not found the problem. Can you help me find the problem?

Thank you very much for your help!

  • Hi @yosipsverko,

This can happen when making changes to a form on the Mailchimp side. Our plugin won’t necessarily be informed of those changes, and then submissions to Mailchimp will start to fail. One of the most common culprits is fields that are now required in Mailchimp, but were not when building the form. The submission will succeed to our plugin, but fail when sending it to Mailchimp.

The easiest solution here is just to recreate your form in our plugin after making changes to your Mailchimp settings. I’d also recommend clearing the API cache in the plugin settings beforehand, to ensure our plugin has the latest data from your Mailchimp account.

Let me know if that helps,
    Jon

    Hi Jon,

    Thanks for your answer.

I have done the steps you mention:
    – Clear cache in plugin settings
    – Create a new form from scratch (do not duplicate). I have inserted it through the shortcode to a page, I have done the subscription test and it has not worked. The message reappears as if it was sent correctly, but I do not receive the confirmation email of the subscription to the Mailchimp list.

    What else can we try?

    Thanks again.

    Hi @yosipsverko

Can you try testing with an email address you have never used to test before?

You also say it was working until a few days ago. How did you notice it stopped? Have you not gotten any sign ups since then? Can you send us a link to the form so we can test?

    Thank you.

    Hi Tracy,

I just tried it with an email address that I had never used and it has worked! I have received the subscription confirmation message.

Does this mean that the other email accounts have been blocked? I had done the test with email accounts from gmail, Outlook and some of my own domains.
Is it possible for Mailchimp to block new email registrations @gmail.com, @outlook.es? Or will it only do it with the email accounts that I have tried?

Yes, it was running until Friday of last week. Note that it stopped working because I did new registration tests with several email accounts, I received the subscription confirmation email.

I’ll give you the link so you can try it:

    Hi @yosipsverko

I just tried the form and I got the opt-in email.

Mailchimp will not let you repeatedly test a single list with the same email. So your form is fine, it just doesn’t like the email you’re testing with.

    Thank you.

    Hi Tracy,

Yes, now the form is already working correctly. We have also continued to do tests and everything has worked.

I will take your comments into account for future implementations and tests.

Thank you very much for your help,
