Good morning, at least it is morning where I am right now ??

I have 4 sites in a cPanel GoGeek Siteground account, not their new Site Tools, yet. One of the sites which is an addon domain is working fine, WF is scanning automatically and manually. The primary domain and the 2 other addons are all giving me exactly the same error when trying a scan.

[Dec 06 10:36:06] Scan Engine Error: The signature on the request to start a scan is invalid. Please try again. So I try again, same story.

I tried deleting and reinstalling WF and this did not help, same error. I should also add that it has all been working fine for a while now, and I have not manually modified anything in any of the sites other than the usual updates. But since very recently the Site health check brought this to my attention:

“The scheduled event, wordfence_daily_autoUpdate, is late to run. Your site still works, but this may indicate that scheduling posts or automated updates may not work as intended.” It’s all been fine for a very long time.

Some other things to note is the addon site which is scanning fine is also quite active, several hundred visits daily. It also has more plugins than the other sites, and it is also the only one with WF Premium. The ones which are not scanning anymore are just very basic bare bones ‘coming soon’ pages. But I’m under the impression that manual scanning should at least still work regardless of number of visitors.

Let me know if you need more info, as I don’t want to bombard this post with too much useless stuff.

    Many thanks,

    Sean H.

  • Hey @sean-h,

Just to rule it out, can you please try checking for a plugin conflict by disabling all other plugins, including the coming soon one?

    Please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Hi Gerroald,

I actually don’t have a ‘coming soon plugin’, just a basic page I created myself. Also, the sites that are giving scan problems have the same plugins as the site that is not giving scan problems, and it even has a few more. All sites are running Divi theme.

I’m out and about posting this with my phone. When I get on my laptop again I will try further trouble shooting.

    Many thanks,

    Sean H.

    Hey @sean-h,

Once you get settled can you send me a Diagnostics report so I can get a better overview of your environment? Please navigate to Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics. Here you can select SEND REPORT BY EMAIL. Please include your www.remarpro.com username and update this thread after you’ve sent it.

    Thanks,

    Hi Gerroald,

This is really bizarre. I get home, whip out the laptop and go to one of the problem sites and try to run a scan. It still refused, so I deactivated all plugins, tried to run a scan again, but this time it worked. So one by one, I reactivate all plugins while initiating a successful scan each time, until after I activate the last plugin, and WF still runs a scan! So I go to the other 2 problem sites and they too all now run a scan, without having to de/reactivate any plugins.

The only real suspicion I have now is a hosting/networking issue somewhere, bearing in mind all the sites in question are in the same hosting account.

It would seem this problem somehow fixed itself, but I’m going to sleep on it and will try again in the morning to see if things are still working.

Many thanks again for the offer of help ??

    Hey @sean-h,

    Thanks for the update.

It was an odd error that I couldn’t find much information about. It’s quite possible it was some type of temporary networking issue. Please do let me know if it stills seems cleared up.

    Thanks,

    Gerroald

    Hi Gerroald,

Yea, it does seem like an odd error, as like I say, it was only 3 of the 4 sites in the same hosting account running the same theme, and the one that wasn’t giving the error was the site that had more plugins than the others.

But as of this moment everything seems to still be working, and I did nothing myself to fix it. Weird.

Anyway, thanks for the offer of help.

    Regards,

    Sean H.

    Hey @sean-h,

No problem at all, that’s what we’re here for.

Please do let us know if anything else comes up.

I’m going to mark this as resolved for now. But feel free to respond if it comes up again and we’ll take another look.

    Thanks,

    Gerroald
