• I’m frustrated and being driven to distraction about the missing Settings>Reading option which vanished quite suddenly so that I cannot change page display status. I followed several suggestions aired on the forum such as deactivating plugins and reinstallation to no avail. My next step, depending on the replies to this SOS is to delete the site and start afresh and if this fails I will have to ditch WP and return to the safety and stability of conventional Website building with Serif Webplus X4. I am working on a family and fun website
and am fairly satisfied with the progress.

It’s a shame though I want to build a business website and I have seen what WP can do and was willing to buy in to the flexibility and power …… but not at any price.

Thanks for any help you can give.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress?

    – increasing the memory available to PHP?
