• Hello all,

I am running the new Site Health to my WordPress and I encountered an error I am not able to fix:

The REST API encountered an error
The REST API is one way WordPress, and other applications, communicate with the server. One example is the block editor screen, which relies on this to display, and save, your posts and pages.

The REST API request failed due to an error.
Error: [] cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 10000 milliseconds with 0 out of -1 bytes received.

Any idea on how to proceed?

  • The first thing to do is to update your WordPress to the latest version if not already done.
Then if the problem is still there check your PHP version and try to increase your Server Memory Limits settings.

    Hello,

I confirm this happens with WordPress (5.2), PHP version is 7.2.18 and 512MB of Memory Limit.

    Iván.

I also encounter this error on WordPress 5.2, my PHP version is 7.2. I’ve just raise memory limit to 256MB but this error still occurs. My site runs without trouble on 5.1.1, but after upgrading on 5.2, first Wp-Optimize plugin showed an error “cURL error 28: Connection timed out after 10000 milliseconds. There was an error connecting to the image compression server.”, and then I can’t access pluggin store. Site health display error : “The REST API is one way WordPress, and other applications, communicate with the server. One example is the block editor screen, which relies on this to display, and save, your posts and pages.

The REST API request failed due to an error.
Error: [] cURL error 7: Failed to connect to taiduthu.com port 443: Connection timed out”

one more thing I need to mention, is that my website is on a shared hosting (linux cpanel). On another site, but on VPS I’ve upgrade my WP to 5.2 too, but don’t encounter this problem (yet?). So there is some issue about limitation of shared hosting?
