    Hi,

    we’ve recently relaunched a website but since then we can’t use iThemes Security anymore. Everytime I try to go through setup I get the error: the response is not a valid json response once I get to the secure Site part.

    I already did a bunch of googling and went through a bunch of fixes

    Nothing seems to work and we still get the error.

    Is there a known solution for this.

    Thank you for reaching out to us.

    This typically isn’t a fix in iThemes security. 

    This will need to be addressed by your hosting provider. Please ask your hosting providers to stop blocking?GET,?POST,?PUT,?PATCH,?DELETE?and?OPTIONS?HTTP methods. There really isn’t any security benefit from them doing so.

    Disabling the?OPTIONS method is only a form of “security by obscurity”. Letting an attacker know that your server will respond to certain HTTP methods isn’t itself a vulnerability. If connecting to an endpoint on your website with a certain method results in a breach, that vulnerability is what is needed to be fixed.

    Other times, this error can occur when unexpected output is included in the REST API response. This is typical because a PHP error has occurred and can be diagnosed by looking at the API response as well as looking in the server’s PHP error logs.

    sorry for waiting for our response.
    We’ve connected with our host and ask them, if the website is blocking the methods and it isn’t. We’re still having this issue.

    Did you know other solutions to fix this error?
