The post appears twice on the front page in twenty eleven

Try and determine where the second post appearance comes from. F.e. it could be and excerpt inside your sidebar.php.

Look through your template files too, to see if you don’t run the loop 2 times.

Thanks. Great idea. But probably not sidebar.php, since inside this file I can see nothing about posts.At the same time I can see no php-file which looks like content-post.php ?? Which file is responsible for posts, please?

Have you tried:

– deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

– switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

– resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Concerning the plugins I’ll check. But the idea about my reading setting in my dashboard was great. I’ve just switched my front page to my static page (instead of “my latest posts”) and I’ve chosen the right one. My question was exactly about it. I don’t need posts at the moment. In between I’ll continue trying to fix the issue about the posts if I’ll need them some day. Thanks. For the moment it’s enough
