    APPRECIATION

My sincere gratitude goes to the authors of this incredible plugin. Of all available WordPress security plugins, All-In-One-WP-Security-and-Firewall stood out for me. Not only because it covers me budget-wise, it is also comprehensive and designed to thwart real WP security threats.

    POSTING THIS ISSUE

I’ve search this forum heavily, but I haven’t seen one topic with 80 percent peculiarity to my issues, hence I decided to create this.

    USEFUL INFO
I use the following server environment:

    • LAMP
    • PHP 7.2.15

    FIRST ISSUE

The plugin was unable to write to the .htaccess file. Please edit file manually.

I get the error above each time I update certain settings on my AIOWPSF settings, but then, I’ll also get a success message stating “Settings successfully updated.”

I have modified permission for the .htaccess file and given it all rights to the owner, group and the world yet, the error kept occurring. I also modified my web root directory permission to give the web server a write permission, but all to no avail.

    SECOND ISSUE

Would you like All In One WP Security & Firewall to re-insert the security rules in your .htaccess file which were cleared when you deactivated the plugin? Yes No

After installation and activation of AIOWPSF, the message above won’t disappear even after selecting the YES option multiple times, but upon the selection of NO, it disappears.

I also observed that selecting the YES option resets configured settings, which makes the plugin usage sucks. It is very serious.

Hope that helps in troubleshooting the glitch. It can be a pain in the butt to start configuring the plugin from zero every time. Fixing this issue will save one’s time and energy.

    QUESTIONS

    • How do I resolve the two issues above?
    • As for the first issue, if the plugin was unable to write to the .htaccess file, where was my configured settings saved to? Because it also gives a success message that my settings was saved.

I look forward to us resolving this issues together.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

The plugin was unable to write to the .htaccess file. Please edit file manually.

Can you check your file permission? You will need to check this via FTP or other means that allow you access to your server. Usually this is what causes this type of error.

Would you like All In One WP Security & Firewall to re-insert the security rules in your .htaccess file which were cleared when you deactivated the plugin? Yes No

If you say Yes and you are not able to write to your .htaccess file then the message will not go away. However if you say No, the of course the message will disappear because you are not writing anything to the .htaccess file.

Let me know if the above helps you.

    Kind regards

    Hi @mbrsolution

Sorry for my English understanding, do you mean if I see the message is still there, then I will need to access via FTP. But what should I added to the .htaccess file? There are only #1 order deny, allow #2 deny from all in the file.

If you say Yes and you are not able to write to your .htaccess file then the message will not go away

@mubiesam, please start a new support thread. It is easier for us to manage one issue at a time.

    Thank you
