• After updating to wordpress 3.8.1, all of my plugins have vanished. I can’t re-install them, and my plugin menu shows that I have no plugins. When I try to install something new, I get ‘this plugin does not have a valid header.” Andy suggestions on what I should do? I’v tried reinstalling the updated, and everything worked fine before the update.

  • I’m having this problem, too. When I try to re-install the plugins, it says they’re already installed. When I look into the plugin folder under wp-content, there’s nothing there… I’m totally confused!

    Anyone? This is really a hindrance to running my site. I can’t even track traffic at the moment because Jetpack is also affected.

    @mleiggi: Have you tried:

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    Thanks for the reply, Esmi. I did change the theme with no success. But I did discover that I can only have one theme, and it won’t let me look at any of the others I had downloaded.

    I will try both FTP and PhpMyAdmin when I get home from work and can download things. Hopefully one of them will be successful. I’ll keep you posted.

    I couldn’t get FileZilla to connect to my site, and PhpMyAdmin would not upload to my site. I fully I could have done something wrong, but I did try to follow the forum walk throughs.
    Do you have any other suggestions, or what I could be doing wrong?

    [Moderator Note: No bumping, thank you.]
