  • Me as well. Three separate websites. Previous version works fine.

Same here. Happens on 4 different websites, i just tried it before visiting this forum.

Workaround: Manually install the latest version before 2.3.0 – which is 2.2.2. You can download this version at the bottom of the plugin main page of the plugin here.

This happened for me using PHP 8.0.
I was able to activate the plugin by downgrading to PHP 7.4.

Ideally the plugin would be updated to work with PHP 8.0 (and 8.1), but for now this might help.

I was able to activate it once I was back on the plugins screen. As in, I couldn’t activate at install, but I could from the plugins screen.

    WP 5.9.3 or 6
    PHP 8
Happened on both Pantheon and WP Engine

This error should be resolved by upgrading to WP Migrate Lite 2.3.2.

To clarify, this was not an error due to PHP 8 compatibility. The error was caused by the renaming of the plugin from WP Migrate DB to WP Migrate Lite. This change caused WordPress to incorrectly identify the mu-plugin as the main plugin file due to a change in the alphabetical order of the plugin and mu-plugin names (talk about an edge case!). We’ve renamed the mu-plugin to WP Migrate Lite Compatibility to resolve the issue going forward. -KH
