  • Have you tried:
-deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
-switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

–Deactivating all plugins did not enable the upload button, so I reactivated.

–I would like to upgrade but my template, Provecho, does not fully accommodate wordpress updates. Some links and pages in the upper right disappear.

Even trying an end around using Next Gen Gallery doesn’t work, as photos now fail to upload there.

Where did you get that theme?

    WordPress Theme 1135 3 by Template_Help.com
    A theme from Template-Help.com Collection

Purchased when I switched the site to wordpress in 2011. It was then modified by the company I was using then to assist with the move.

Wow. I can’t be much help on this.

Since that is a commercial theme or plugin, we ask that you please go to their official support channel, so you can get support from the people who know it best.

Forum volunteers are also not given access to commercial products, so they would not know why it is not working properly. Other community members who may have faced your issue might be able to help you but your best bet is your product’s developer. Keep in mind we encourage you to use the official support venues, as it allows the developers to be aware of issues with their code and gives back to the community in a more robust way.

It was malware as I suspected. My host reported:

I did a malware scan and found one file that was maclious:
    /home/[login password]/public_html/wp-content/gallery/hp_3/thumbs/wf.php
I replaced the wp-includes folder and the wp-admin folder with clean folders. Everything seems to be working properly and the redirect is no longer happening.

Upgrade if you can. We are now on version 4.5.2 and being as far back as you are you are vulnerable to hacking.

As huge as my site is that will be tough and there’s also the issue with the template mentioned above.
