@vicentsalvador92 We’re sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue on your site.
There are a number of ways you can set a content type or taxonomy to
noindex
, so we would recommend checking all of them. You can set the default to
noindex
a content type or taxonomy by performing the following actions:-
? In WordPress go to SEO>Search Appearance>Taxonomies
? For the content type or taxonomy set the ‘Show in search results’ to ‘No’
? Click ‘Save Changes’Also, we would recommend checking to make sure that it isn’t set to
noindex
on the individual edit page. You can check this setting by performing the following actions:-
? Go to the Edit screen for the item you want to set.
? Scroll down to the Yoast metabox
? Click on the ‘Advanced’ area
? For ‘Allow search engines to show this in search results?’ make sure this is set to ‘No’
* Note (setting this value to Yes will set meta robots toindex
and setting No would set meta robots tonoindex
)We also have a guide on how to set a page/post or taxonomy’s meta robots tag to
noindex
here: https://yoast.com/help/how-do-i-noindex-urls/If you are still experiencing a
noindex
tag being output after checking the aforementioned items, we’d next recommend also clearing your site’s cache (server, plugin/theme, or CDN such as Cloudflare) to make sure that the page has been updated. If you are not sure how to clear your server cache you should speak with your host provider. If you clear your cache does this resolve the issue? If you are not sure how to clear your server cache you should speak with your host provider. We have information on how to clear your browser cache at the following link: https://yoast.com/help/how-to-clear-my-browsers-cache/.
Hi @devnihil Thank you for your response.
First I went to SEO>Search Appearance>Taxonomies and it is marked by default to index in google the taxonomy “estudios de tatuajes”. Here is a screenshot https://ibb.co/gmMB6cN
Then I went to METABOX Yoast of tatuing.com/estudios-de-tatuajes/castellon/ and is marked to be indexed in Google Here is a screenshot https://ibb.co/KrtGMrMIn addition I have manually set that if indexed I have cleared the cache and it has not changed either.
https://ibb.co/WxHcgfCFinally I have also cleared the server cache and my browser cache.
We checked the page source of https://tatuing.com/estudios-de-tatuajes/ and we do see that it is set to ‘index’, however, for https://tatuing.com/estudios-de-tatuajes/castellon/, it is showing the ‘noindex’ tag.
We understand that for https://tatuing.com/estudios-de-tatuajes/castellon/, you’ve went to the Yoast SEO meta box and have confirmed that it is set to ‘yes’ for the ‘show in search results’ option in the advanced tab of the Yoast SEO meta box, so it’s possible that something else may be causing the ‘noindex’ output.
Often, we see problems occur in combination with another plugin or theme. The fastest way to rule out any conflict, is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Twenty.
Please test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. This plugin has a troubleshooting mode, which does not affect normal visitors to your site.
If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process: How to check for plugin conflicts
Hi @michael
I just did the test with the plugin, to do the test I had to activate the MyListing theme and only the plugin activated with Seo By Yoast, the result is that it still has the no-index tag in the taxonomies. What can I do?
Thanks for your confirmation. What do you see when you disable the Yoast SEO plugin as well? Do you still see the relevant
noindex
robots meta tag on the relevant pages? We look forward to hearing from you.
Hi @mazedulislamkhan
When I deactivate the SEO By Yoast plugin in Troubleshooting mode the no-index disappears, I leave a screenshot of the beginning of the code.
https://ibb.co/ypdsJdqI have also checked by deactivating the SEO by Yoast plugin with the normal website without Troubleshooting and also the no-index disappears.
Hello,
To recapitulate, you want https://tatuing.com/estudios-de-tatuajes/albacete/ to be indexed and you have the correct settings in the Yoast SEO meta box. However, it has a
noindex
tag irrespective of what you have tried. Is this correct?Interestingly, though it has a
noindex
tag, it appears in the https://tatuing.com/estudios-de-tatuajes-sitemap.xml. You also mentioned that the issue resolves when you deactivate the Yoast SEO plugin. To troubleshoot further, please try this: deactivate all plugins except the Yoast SEO plugin. Switch to a default WordPress theme e.g Twenty-Twenty. Then, check if the
noindex
tag still shows up in the page source.Hi @maybellyne
Thank you for your response
There is a problem, I can not change the theme I use, because the theme is the one that allows me to create taxonomies for example /studios-de-tatuajes/albacete/, if I change it the taxonomies disappear.Oh? That makes sense! With the settings you have, there shouldn’t be a
noindex
tag anymore; the issue still looks like a plugin conflict. We can imagine that deactivating your plugins or switching themes on a production site isn’t the best way to go in your case. Have you ever considered setting up a staging environment for your tests? Staging sites allow you to do all the testing without impacting your production site. You can then apply the changes to the production site when all works as intended.
Your host might be able to help
Some popular web hosts offer quick setups for a staging site, so please contact your web host for assistance. They will probably be able to help you out.Alternative options to set up a staging environment
If your web host does not offer staging sites, the WordPress plugin repository offers staging plugins, or you can create your own staging site.`Hi @maybellyne
I have a doubt, if I deactivate all plugins except yoast and the error continued, I understand that it is not incompatible with any plugin, maybe it is an error of the theme.
Could it be?Thanks for the feedback. If you deactivated the Yoast SEO plugin but you still have a
noindex
tag, it could be that the theme is adding it and not Yoast SEO. As I mentioned earlier, all your Yoast SEO settings are accurate. Can you reach out to the theme developer and let them know? Probably, there is a setting to turn this behavior off.
We are going ahead and marking this issue as resolved due to inactivity. If you require any further assistance please create a new issue.
