  • What is your site URL?

I am dealing with the exact same issue.

Cannot find the plugin in the FTP side of my site and it’s not listed in my PHP in wp_options.

    Hope someone can help.

@crystalwildewud Please start your own post as per the forum welcome.

@mollynavwgrace Please sign into your host, bluehost.com and go to cPanel. I think they have an icon for checking server errors. If they do, see what the error is.

If not using ftp or the file manager provided by your host, change the wp-config.php file. Where it says define( 'WP_DEBUG', false ); change that to define( 'WP_DEBUG', true );. Then when you try to login you should get a list of errors.

there is a Main Error log but it says that it is “a shared log meaning that errors from all websites hosted on the server will be displayed as well as those for your website,” when I search for my IP displayed at the top nothing comes up….

Sorry this is a little over my head ??

Using the file manager provided by your host, rename wp-content/plugins to wp-content/plugins-old. That will tell us if it is a plugin problem.

If it still does not work, go to wp-content/themes/the theme you are using and add a -old to the theme name.

There are many things that can cause a 500 error. Have you talked or opened a ticket with your host?

    Thanks for trying to help!

Bluehost no longer offers the option to open tickets for tech support.

I went into the file manager but I didnt see the wp-content/plugins or themes.

Sorry I’m so dense at this, I know nothing about codes or the internal workings ??

In your file manager you might see “home” and under that “public_html.” Clicking on that folder should put you in the folder where WordPress is installed. In that folder you should see a wp-content folder.

From the Bluehost ad – Easily scalable and backed by legendary 24/7 support by in-house WordPress experts. Do they offer chat?

Yay! I found it!! Also thank you so much for being patient with me!!

Ok so I renamed the plugins first and then when I tried to go to my site it worked so I didn’t rename the theme or anything I just stopped there.

I was able to log into the wp-admin as well and this message was at the top…

W3 Total Cache Error: some files appear to be missing or out of place. Please re-install plugin or remove /home2/navigbc5/public_html/wp-content/advanced-cache.php.W3 Total Cache Error: some files appear to be missing or out of place. Please re-install plugin or remove /home2/navigbc5/public_html/wp-content/db.php.W3 Total Cache Error: some files appear to be missing or out of place. Please re-install plugin or remove /home2/navigbc5/public_html/wp-content/object-cache.php

Im not sure if that is there because of what I renames or if that is the whole problem?

Great! That message is from renaming the plugins folder. Now change the name back to plugins. In that folder are the plugins you use. Add -old to the end of each plugin one-by-one until your site breaks again. Then you will know which plugin is a fault.

ok, so I changed the fold back to just ‘plugins’ and then renamed each plugin one at a time and my website is still fine? And it was okay after each renaming too?
