    Hi,

There are issues with the indexing of my last posts.

When I check the URL in Google Search Console, the following message appears:

“The page is indexed, not sent to a Sitemap.”

Please see a screenshot here: https://i.postimg.cc/5yLskpG4/Indexed-No-Sitemap.png

At the same time, the Sitemap index is processed successfully in GSC. And I can see the link to the post on the Sitemap.

Also, I noticed that some of my new posts don’t appear on Google. All this started to happen about 1-2 weeks ago.

My Sitemap is generated by the Yoast SEO plugin. Can you please help me to fix this issue?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

@combobets We’re sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue on your site.

Can you please let us know an example URL of one of the pages/posts that are receiving this error so that we can check into this further?

Also, can you please confirm whether the URL that you receive the warning for is included within the sitemap?

If the URL isn’t included in the sitemap, this could be due to the sitemap not updating as expected. Whereas the XML Sitemap should dynamically update after any modification to it, if the site or server is caching the sitemap this can cause it to not update right away. We also have additional information on this at the following link: https://yoast.com/help/sitemap-does-not-update/.
    ?
?If you are not seeing the sitemap as updated, we would recommend checking your caching settings and to ensure that the sitemap is being excluded from the cache.

If the sitemap is being cached by a plugin we have directions on how to add an exclusion for the sitemap files to your cache plugin at the following link: https://yoast.com/help/exclude-sitemaps-from-cache/

If you are still experiencing an issue with the sitemap not updating after checking your site’s caching settings, you can also force a cache reset by temporarily disabling the sitemap feature, and then re-enabling it. To do so please perform the following steps:

In order to disable and then re-enable sitemaps in the Yoast SEO plugin, you would need to perform the following actions:

? In WordPress go to SEO>General>Features
? Toggle the ‘XML Sitemaps’ option to ‘Off’
    ? Click ‘Save Changes’
? Toggle the ‘XML Sitemaps’ option to ‘On’
    ? Click ‘Save Changes’

We also have a guide on how to enable and disable XML Sitemaps here: https://yoast.com/help/xml-sitemaps-in-the-wordpress-seo-plugin/

Can you please try the aforementioned suggestions and letting us know whether it resolves your issue and you are able to successfully update the sitemap?

    @devnihil Thanks for your response.

    Example URL: https://topzalozi.com/%d1%80%d0%be%d0%bb%d0%b0%d0%bd-%d0%b3%d0%b0%d1%80%d0%be%d1%81-2022-%d0%bd%d0%b0-%d0%b6%d0%b8%d0%b2%d0%be/

And I can confirm that this URL and all new URLs in fact are included within the sitemap, but Google Search Console still says for them: “The page is indexed, not sent to a Sitemap”.

I’ve noticed something (maybe it’s important). For every URL with Cyrillic symbols (like the example) that I’ve checked in GSC, there is the following message: “The page is indexed, not sent to a Sitemap.” For URLs with only Latin symbols (like this one: https://topzalozi.com/roma-feyenord/), the message is: “It is sent to a Sitemap”.

    Hi @combobets

We can confirm that this URL https://topzalozi.com/%d1%80%d0%be%d0%bb%d0%b0%d0%bd-%d0%b3%d0%b0%d1%80%d0%be%d1%81-2022-%d0%bd%d0%b0-%d0%b6%d0%b8%d0%b2%d0%be/ is listed in your post sitemap (https://topzalozi.com/post-sitemap9.xml).

Just to clarify, you’ve only submitted /sitemap_index.xml to GSC, right? That should be the only sitemap link that needs to be submitted.

We do know that there is a similar status of “Indexed, not submitted in sitemap” that Google reports. This shouldn’t be a cause of concern, as in the instances we’ve seen it, we can confirm that the URL is listed in a sitemap, but it’s just that Google’s crawlers found the URL through other means and not through the sitemap.

    Hi @mikes41720

you’ve only submitted /sitemap_index.xml to GSC, right?

In fact, I’ve submitted 2 sitemaps in GSC. The other one is for a forum (/forum/sitemap.xml) and it is generated by wpForo Forum plugin. Could this be a problem?

    Hi @combobets

Well, since it isn’t listed in the /sitemap_index.xml from the Yoast SEO plugin, it shouldn’t be an issue for that other submitted sitemap.

If it’s an external sitemap, we do have options to add external sitemaps to the Yoast SEO generated sitemap – https://yoast.com/help/add-external-sitemap-to-index/

To note, we wouldn’t be too concerned with the URL earlier of https://topzalozi.com/%d1%80%d0%be%d0%bb%d0%b0%d0%bd-%d0%b3%d0%b0%d1%80%d0%be%d1%81-2022-%d0%bd%d0%b0-%d0%b6%d0%b8%d0%b2%d0%be/ being reported as indexed, not submitted in sitemap, as we can confirm it is in the post sitemap, and it is just likely that Google found the URL through other means. What’s important is that it is indexed and showing in the search results.
