    Oi!

    Here’s the info mate…

“The necessary verification token could not be found on your site”

I successfully added the analytics script in my header.php without any issues! It worked almost too easy. Why is Adsense being difficult? :*(

    Background:
    – Hosted on AWS
    – Deployed via Lightsail WordPress Multisite
    – I know it’s not supported for multisite, so I activated on an individual site.
    – I disabled caching plugin (WP Fastest Cache)
    – Still complains of another caching plugin

I’ll fill out the form with the site-info after I post this.

Thanks for reaching out and providing the additional information and insights.
Can you share the following and we can try to determine the cause before ensuring you get successfully connected:

    1. Can you confirm at what stages this is occurring? Ie. during the initial setup stage, or when when trying to connect the AdSense module. You mention “AdSense” although the initial Site Kit setup process verifies a site with Search Console.
    2. I’m not familar with Litesail, can you share whether you’ve been able to setup Site Kit previously on another site using the same environment?

After sharing the above please follow the steps below, which can help rule out browser extensions or plugins impacting setup, I can see you already have the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin active.

    1. Login to your site from a Chrome browser incognito window
    2. Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”.
    3. From the same screen click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and then click on the “Enable” option next to “Site Kit by Google”
    4. Attempt to setup Site Kit once more, and then follow the stepspreviously followed before you encounter this message

You can exit troubleshooting mode afterwards.

@jamesosborne – I was hoping you’d be the one to assist!

P1-1: Stage – the initial setup stage, where you click on the dashboard and it says: Set up Site Kit, then you have the button below where it says sign in with google. I sign it and it gets me to the point of Verify site ownership. then BOOM! The necessary verification token could not be found on your site…

P1-2: Lightsail – pretty neat! More info here: https://aws.amazon.com/lightsail/ I have not set up site kit anywhere else. In fact, I don’t even want to use site kit, I simply want to add my code in the <HEAD> element on my site like I did with analytics, but I’m getting the same error.

Regarding attempting to setup Site Kit once more while in troubleshooting mode and incognito, I immediately get this message: When enabling the plugin, google-site-kit, a site failure occurred. Because of this the change was automatically reverted.

Basically it disables google-site-kit when I go to troubleshooting mode.

Friend… I need help! This should be as simple as Analytics where I just paste a code in <head></head>!!

@wdes2021 Thanks for the update. That is indeed unusual. While I suspect there is something at host level blocking access it would be great to rule out plugins and any theme functions or features impacting setup via the Health Check & troubleshooting plugin first. As this isn’t working can you inform me if you see any notices when checking your Site Health status?

I’ll also checkout Litesail from my side and see what I can determine, thanks for sharing the link. It does look like a useful tool for AWS users. I’ll report back to you here after testing. In the meantime please share any Site Health status messages.

    Hi James,

I have complete control over blacklisting/whitelisting access to the site, so I can change permissions as needed. I would just need to know what to change…

Regarding the Site Health Status, good point! I currently have a couple of them related to a custom plugin that they are currently fixing:

    • The REST API request failed due to an error.
Error: [] cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 10000 milliseconds with 0 bytes received
    • A scheduled event has failedPerformance
The scheduled event, action_scheduler_run_queue, failed to run. Your site still works, but this may indicate that scheduling posts or automated updates may not work as intended.
    • I can temporarily fix those to test out the site-key plugin again!

      Stand by…

@jamesosborne – That was it!!! Once I cleared the Site errors (rest API) then it was able to verify it! It works!

    Thank You friend!!!

Excellent, really great to hear it. We’ll also keep this in mind should other users encounter the same issue.

Be sure to get in touch if you have any further queries. If you have a moment free please also considering sharing your thoughts on the plugin so far, we’d love to hear your feedback.

    Enjoy the weekend.
