• In my testing of multiple image optimization plugins, I found that Shortpixel produces the smallest file sizes with the best image quality.

The default options are great as-is (so it doesn’t need complex configuration), but it also has the flexibility to be further configured optimally.

It works best if you size images to the largest dimensions they’ll be displayed (before uploading, rather than relying on Shortpixel to scale down large images), and use a fair amount of JPG compression. (Set the image quality to 80% or so when exporting from your photo editor.) Then upload the image and let Shortpixel squeeze out a any extra kilobytes, and you’ll be all set with well-optimized, high-quality images.

The support team is also very responsive and helpful.

Shortpixel is definitely a must-have plugin that should be on every site!
