• As a developer I can say it is the most horrific “improvement” of WordPress. The documentation for it more looks like “raw outlines”.
Always liked WP for its flexibility in code sense, but this “new feature” reminded me vbulletin with its “brilliant”(sarcasm) admin area.
I really can’t understand why need to make simple, useful, and flexible editor more complex, awkward, and much-much-much less flexible for any customization (in developing sense)
“Thanks” for this “brilliant” feature as default editor.

    Hi @grigory-volochiy,

The documentation for it more looks like “raw outlines”.

We are still developing Gutenberg, and it is not easy to keep a balance between developing new features/fixing existing ones and document the APIs we offer. That said, would it be possible to share what things missed documentation?

Would it be possible to share what issues you faced while customizing the new editor so we can try to address them?

Thank you in advance for the insights you may provide!

    Hello!

Sorry, but not sure my review is still actual, since all sites I’m working under WP are using Classic editor, enabled by another plugin. And since that plugin has more than 5 million installations and almost all users happy, not sure there is a need to change anything in Gutenberg (probably those, who are happy with it, will be happy with any state of this plugin).

If it would be disabled by default and just suggested for activation, then it would be the best improvement for this plugin (I’m sure those 5 million users will say their thanks, and me, too) – usually I never leave negative review to let a product be better.
I think the only big mistake with Gutenberg is manager’s decision to make it default, and to ignore all reviews where people asking for making it optional.
I think each plugin should find its audience without forcing people to use it.
If thing is good, then everyone will want to use it.

I believe, that eventually, in this thread, will leave mostly positive reviews (from only those, who still use it and are happy).

    Hi,

Thank you for sharing your insights with us. The Gutenberg project is still in the early stages. I hope one day with the improvements the project gets, it fits your needs. If you could, please try it from time to time. You may find that the things that made you see the editor as terrible may have already been addressed.
Meanwhile, using the classic editor is a perfectly fine option, and the new editor also offers a classic block, which is essentially an old editor inside the new one.

Thank you again for testing the project and sharing your thoughts, feel free to get back us if you retest the editor and you find any issue so we can look deep into it.
