• You want to rename a file? You must be a Pro user.

Perhaps the plugin should do more. Like allow users to manually rename a file.

It also seems odd and a little confusing that the pro version of this plugin uses WordPress’s free forum to support it’s paid for plugin.

The plugin for a while had no manual option. One day I added options for PRO users and manual renaming was one of them. Before that, I mainly got good reviews. After adding useful options along with a PRO version, bad reviews appeared. Well, what should we do then, as developers? Maybe crappy and free plugins, without any kind of support. And no more, otherwise, you get “that”.

I have decided to make a part of my users really happy and some others not, and you are part of them.

This plugin is originally an auto rename plugin and manual renaming is definitely an option. I am its developer and for your information, I am using the free version.

Another case of someone unfairly expecting developers to provide all their time and resources for free. @iambriansreed be honest would you work for free? could you do a better job than the developer? Somehow I don’t think so.

It’s worth putting the relatively low fees charged by Open Source developers into perspective. If it wasn’t for them supporting Open Source CMS’s like WordPress, Joomla, Drupal and contributing to the Communities for these you would probably not be able to afford to create and develope your own Websites at all.

I just think if you have a plugin with the name “Media File Renamer” you should be able to rename a media file with the plugin. Seems like the ability rename a media file would be the main feature of a plugin by the name “Media File Renamer.”

Am I really asking for too much here?

Also should the plugin author be using this forum to support their pay for plugin? Weird.

@iambriansreed Quite honestly I don’t know what you think you’re asking for.

FACT: You CAN rename a media file with this Plugin. The free version does it automatically the Paid version allows you to manually customise the filename.

It’s not rocket science, it comes down to you taking responsibility for doing your due diligence and researching the plugin thoroughly before deciding if it meets your requirements. If you had you would not of been disappointed. I can only suggest you take more care next time instead of blaming someone who has done their level best to ensure all the information you need to make an informed choice is available to you.

    You have no argument.

You are absolutely right. Given the limitation of the free version I am not entirely sure what the Author should have called it. Just disappointing you can’t rename a media file with this plugin the same way you rename a file in pretty much any other application.

@iambriansreed There is nothing wrong with the name, it does what it says to do. It renames media files both automatically and manually (should you choose to upgrade to Pro). You may well be disappointed and have every right to rate a plugin negatively if it doesn’t do what it is advertised to do, the information supplied is misleading or the technical support provided you have experienced is lacking. I think it’s fair to say in this instance that none of these is true and I cannot help but feel you should not have posted a review at all, negative or otherwise. Your review was neither informative or constructive.

Anyhow… if what I have said hasn’t changed your opinion and you are unwilling to adjust your review rating accordingly then we’ll just agree to disagree. I have nothing new to say on the matter, users who take the time to read these reviews can make up their own minds.

BTW: In case anyone reading this is wondering why I have become involved it’s simply because I use and subscribe to this plugin and who believes in being fair and just. In this case I see a humble developer who plays an active part contributing to the WP community being unfairly treated and their efforts taken for granted. Peace out.
